Kipsigis Girls High School reaches milestones in the 2021 KCSE examinations after Brenda Cherotich emerged among the leading students in country as she became number 10 nationally in the under 16 category.
The school, situated in Kericho County, has seen rising fortunes academically in the last five years.
The girl who attained a mean score of 87.066 points is a star in a unique way as she sat her KCPE examinations four years ago while in Standard Seven.
During an interview at the school, the jubilant girl revealed her desire to become a medical doctor so as to satisfy her passion of helping sick people. Her dream of becoming a medic was inspired by what she described as sorrowful events she witnessed during the inversion of Covid-19 Pandemic.
“It was not easy when we witnessed neighbors losing several relatives to the disease. I feel traumatized when I see daily Covid-19 fatality figures on the national media,” she said.
She said her determination is strong as she is among those who do not want to be on the sidelines while people are facing problems.
Brenda, who hails from Bureti thanked her teachers and mother for giving her enough motivation to work hard and achieve the best.
On behalf of the School Principal, Mrs. Christine Chumba, the Deputy Principal Mrs. Sylvia Ngetich congratulated the best student and her colleagues, saying the team was exemplary in hard work and disciplined. She said their success was not a surprise since they had prepared well for the examinations.
She thanked the administration, staff and the board for their joint efforts in working for the success of the school, adding that teachers worked hard to ensure they clear the syllabus in advance, hence getting enough time for revision.
