Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has fully paid term two school fees for a Form two student in his constituency who was among beneficiaries of the county scholarship but later dropped.

Mary Nafula, a student at Moi Girls Kamusinga, said that she realized that her name was missing on the scholarship list when she reported to school.

The MP also pledged to construct a decent house for the family affirming that he will continue supporting other bright students to get education.

“I don’t depend only on NG-CDF to educate students. I use my own money to pay fees for bright and needy students,” Barasa said.

Nafula who attended Kamasielo Primary school and garnered 317 marks thanked the MP for coming to her rescue affirming that she will double her efforts while at school then later on pursue law at university level.

“I thank my Hon. Didmus Barasa for coming on my aid, I’m now optimistic that I will become a lawyer,” she said.

Her father, George Nyongesa, praised Barasa for paying her daughter’s arrears adding that after she was struck off the scholarship list, she sought admission at a local school within the village.

“After my daughter left Moi Girls, her performance dropped drastically. I am now glad that she has returned to a school of her choice,” he said.

Moi Girls Kamusinga Chief Principal Joyce Mulunda, lauded the MP for taking a bold step to ensure Nafula went back to school.

Mulunda said that Barasa paid Nafula’s arrears further noting that another 250 students at the school were suspended from the scholarship.

She added that the county government owes the school Ksh 15 million.
