Kiine girls to undergo an upgrade vows BOM chairman

Kiine girls’ board chair vows to upgrade the school through proper management of resources and learning.

The chairman Kiine Girls’ secondary school in Kirinyaga County has vowed to bring change in the learning institution.

The chairman Felix Wanjohi, during the Annual General meeting, told the school management and teaching staff that all students will not be sent home due to school fees.

He also stated that parents should be given time to clear school fees.

“We have to keep girls in school, parents should try their level best in paying fees- when the parents come to plead give them an ear they should not be humiliated” Wanjohi said.

He said that despite the school having arrears of Sh 17 million from 2017, other ways to raise the money will be used and not coercing parents.

On hygiene, piped water project that will cost Sh 1.5 million will be installed to ensure there is sufficient water.

“We have to remember this is a girls’ school and cleanliness is paramount, we are going to have a Sh 1.5 million water project to have enough water,” the chairman added.

A modern ablution block that will cost 4.5 million will also be put up.

To ensure there is no blackout after power is off, a generator worth Sh 2.3 Million has been installed together with surveillance cameras to monitor the girls movements.

Leaking roofs in classrooms and staff room to be renovated to avoid leaking and staining ceiling during the rainy season.

On school uniforms, parents are going to get relief after the cost was slashed with a whole sh.6, 000 from Sh 19,000 to Sh.13, 000.

Wanjohi who has been the BOM Chair for three years cites remarkable infrastructural progress that would not have been achieved in years.

“I am determined to bring change and revive a school that was “dead”, the glory of Kiine Girls must be felt” He added.

The school was elevated to an extra county school in November 2021.

Wanjohi urged school management to work closely and ensure the performance improves and instill discipline in girls.

“We need to improve our performance and also ensure that discipline is of high standards.” He added.
