Five best performing principals and teachers from schools in Kiharu Constituency have been flagged off for a fully sponsored benchmarking trip to Dubai, an annual reward initiative under the Masomo Bora education programme championed by the area MP, Ndindi Nyoro.

Seeing the teachers off at the airport, Ndindi Nyoro’s spokesman, Antony Warui, underscored the consistency of the programme since its launch, observing that the initiative has greatly motivated teachers of public schools.

Warui noted that the Dubai benchmarking tours began in 2022, and each year best best-performing educators have benefited.

“This trip is sponsored by Ndindi Nyoro as a way of motivating teachers and awarding them for their hard work,” he said.

Warui added that the trip is structured to ensure educators visit globally recognized learning institutions in Dubai, interact with international tutors, and return with innovative ideas to uplift schools in Kiharu.

On her part, Beatrice Wachira, Head Teacher of Technology Primary School, urged her colleagues to adopt personal initiative and diligence.

“I tell other head teachers to embrace self-drive and hard work because once you do that, somebody is always there to reward that,” she said.

Another beneficiary, Esther Macharia of Githagara Primary School, who was also sponsored after her subject recorded one of the best improvements, praised the Masomo Bora efforts for supporting learners and educators.

“I appreciate Ndindi Nyoro for making learning smooth for learners by aiding the classes, paying tuition fees, providing lunch and also remembering the teachers because they’re always forgotten,” she stated.

Francis Waithaka, also a Head Teacher at Mbari ya Hiti Primary School, selected for the tour, expressed gratitude and determination as he prepared for the trip.

“I am eager to learn a lot from the trip and apply the lessons back home,” he said, emphasizing that educational success requires commitment and that success is worked for and not just attained overnight.

At the beginning of the year, the programme selected 11 principals from day secondary schools for the Dubai benchmarking tour, marking one of the largest groups yet.

The trip is designed not as a leisure outing but as a professional development mission. The educators will tour educational facilities, observe modern learning technologies, and explore international best practices.

Upon return, the teachers are expected to share insights with their schools and apply new strategies to strengthen academic performance and student support systems.
