Kibabii University has warned students to disregard a fraudulent admission memo circulating on social media, calling it “fake” and urging the public not to act on its instructions.
The bogus document, which carries the university’s logo and a forged signature, claims that all incoming first-year students must complete an online admission process before August 18, 2025. It directs students to a suspicious online form and requests sensitive documents, including KCSE results, national ID cards, and passports.
In an official statement posted on its verified Facebook page, the institution stated that the notice was not issued by the university and that all official communications would be released only through its accredited channels.
“All students are advised to ignore this fake memo and avoid sharing or acting upon its contents,” the statement reads.

University officials have warned that such scams are designed to steal personal data and have urged students, parents, and guardians to verify any announcements through the university’s website, kibu.ac.ke, or its verified social media accounts.
The incident comes amid a rise in online fraud targeting new students during admission periods.
Authorities are investigating the source of the forged memo as the university steps up efforts to protect its community from similar scams.
