Kiambu teacher stabbed to death

Mourners at the home of the late Irene Ngendo.

Family, friends, teachers and pupils of Thigio Primary School in Ndeiya ward, Limuru sub-county in Kiambu county are yet to come to terms with the loss of their teacher who was stabbed to death by unknown assailants on Saturday.

Irene Ngendo was stabbed by unknown persons at her house on Saturday afternoon with the motive still unclear since nothing was stolen from her house.

Njenga Murugami, a family member said that neighbours heard screams and by the time they answered the distress call the assailants had already fled and Ngendo was crawling out of her house while covered in blood.

“When neighbours arrived, they did not see anyone leaving. They only saw her trying to crawl outside her house,” Murugami said.

Confirming the incident, Limuru sub-county Police Commander Phillip Mwania said that they were still searching for suspects.

“The attacker stabbed her on the abdomen and left,” Mwania said.

Speaking in his Limuru office, Mwania said that nothing was stolen from the house.

“Her phones and handbag were still in the house but there were signs that there was a struggle during the incident,” he said.

Mwania said that they had launched investigations into the incident.

He also appealed to the family to assist the DCI detectives with any information that may lead to the suspect’s arrest.

Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Kiambu West branch led by Secretary General Micheal Muna said that the teaching fraternity had lost a hardworking, humble and approachable teacher.
