The Kenya Women Teachers Association (KEWOTA) will mark its 6th anniversary on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, in a celebration themed “Digitising Dignity.”
The event will celebrate six years of inspiring leadership among women educators and unveil a revolutionary digital product designed to transform the economic and social empowerment of women teachers..
For the past six years, KEWOTA has championed the advancement of women in education through advocacy, mentorship, leadership training, and innovative financial solutions tailored for female educators.
The association, led by CEO Benta Opande, has become a powerful voice for more than 200,000 women teachers across Kenya.
“For six incredible years, KEWOTA has empowered women teachers across Kenya, inspiring leadership, amplifying voices, and driving lasting change,” the organisation said in a statement ahead of the event.
The new digital innovation — whose details will be revealed at the anniversary celebration — is expected to bridge the financial inclusion gap by offering digital access to savings, credit, insurance, and investment opportunities tailored for teachers.
The Saturday’s event is expected to attract hundreds of delegates, including education policymakers, gender advocates, and corporate partners such as Safaricom, ICEA Lion, APA Insurance, Kentainers, and House of Procurement, all of whom have collaborated with KEWOTA on various initiatives.
Founded in 2019, KEWOTA addresses gender disparities within the teaching profession by providing professional development, mentorship, and financial empowerment to women teachers.

The association has since expanded its presence to all 47 counties, advocating for gender equity, teacher welfare, and educational innovation.
Over the years, KEWOTA has introduced several initiatives, including financial literacy programs, entrepreneurship training, and wellness campaigns for women in education.
The association has also collaborated with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), the Ministry of Education, and private partners to support teacher wellbeing and professional growth.
As the anniversary approaches, KEWOTA has promised an inspiring, laughter-filled, and empowering event.
Participants are urged to come ready to connect, learn, and celebrate progress in women’s empowerment through education and innovation.
The event will begin at 8am at the KICC in Nairobi and is open to members, partners, and supporters of women in education nationwide.
