This year’s Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA) national conference has been moved from July to October in Mombasa as from October 5-9, 2021.
The high profile meeting was initially scheduled to start from July 19, 2021 to July 23, 2021 as per the association’s 2021 calendar of events under the running theme of ‘Education in the New Era’.
The changes were due to the increasing cases of Covid-19 in the country which have witnessed new restrictions being imposed to Western, Nyanza and parts of Rift Valley most recently, and the organizers believe that by that time, the cases might have come down.
The decision was probably taken on account of the recent Government ban on gatherings involving more than 100 people which are currently still in force.
About 9, 000 principals will be meeting in Mombasa to discuss among other issues w the 100 per cent transition rate to secondary schools which has strained facilities in institutions, delayed disbursement of capitation funds and the impact of Covid-19 to schools.
Also to feature in the meeting is the thorny issue of issue of transfers’ which saw some Principals of National Schools moved to County and Extra County Schools which goes against the norms.
At the same time, KESSHA National Chairperson Kahi Indimuli who is the current African Confederation of Principals (ACP)is expected expected to hand over the mantle to All Nigeria Confederation of Secondary School Principals (ANCOPPS) Anselm Izuagie as his successor.
