The former chairman of the Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA), Kahi Indimuli, has encouraged Julius Mutwii, who served as a teacher for 37 years and as KESSHA chairman in Makueni County for almost seven years, to retire but not to grow tired of matters of education.
“The principals and the nation need your input. Retiring from service does not mean you will turn your head when your services are needed, especially on mentoring or correcting any issue that needs your opinion,” Kahi said.
He was speaking during the retirement party of Mbeletu Secondary School principal and former KESSHA chair, Mutwii, of Makueni County, at his home in Sultan Hamud, for the national secretary of the Eastern region event.
Kahi described Mutwii as a man of honour who did his work with dedication and passion, and he mentored many.
Kahi, who retired last year from service, noted that having served with Mutwii for many years, he is among the few chairmen he could reach for a quick solution.
He added that Mutwii handled issues amicably and was never worried or stressed by anything; he would rather encourage him (Kahi) than see any issue come to pass.
Kahi pointed out that, having been in the principal’s seat, he knows what it all takes, and he knows that principals are seriously suffering from running schools without capitation.
“As you exit service, I will ask the government if you continue underfunding the schools, they will go down since 2019, the schools started receiving less capitation, and it continued until now, when it is even worse,” Kahi said.
