The education community in Kericho County is in mourning following the untimely passing of Alfred Kosgey, Deputy Principal of Cheborge Boys High School.
With the family’s permission, it has been announced that he passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy of commitment, mentorship, and service to education.
In honour of his life and to support the bereaved family, a fundraising event has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
The body will leave AIC Litein Mortuary on Thursday, 19th February 2026, for an overnight vigil, ahead of the funeral service on Friday, 20th February 2026, at his home in Kitala Village, Cheptalal, Konoin Sub-County, Kericho County.
The events are expected to draw students, educators, friends, and well-wishers from across the county.

Kosgey was widely respected for his dedication to academic excellence and discipline, and for his pivotal role in nurturing young minds at Cheborge Boys High School. Colleagues describe him as a humble and visionary leader whose guidance positively influenced both students and staff.
His commitment to education extended beyond the classroom, as he mentored upcoming teachers and actively participated in initiatives that strengthened the school community.
Education stakeholders, friends, relatives and the broader teaching fraternity are urged to join the family in honoring his life and contributions. His sudden passing is a significant loss to the school, the community, and the county’s education sector at large.

Though Kosgey’s earthly journey has ended, his dedication to education and the lives he touched will ensure that his legacy continues to inspire students, teachers, and the wider Kericho County community.
