“Ministry of Health and Education are set to carry out deworming in all schools across the county. This exercise targets children aged between 2 and 14 years in both public and private schools in the county,” he said.

Kemei asked parents to ensure their children are dewormed, adding that dewormers are safe hence there is no cause for alarm.

The sentiments were echoed by County Education Officer Benard Koech, noting that deworming helps boost concentration among learners, hence boosting their performance.

“Deworming drugs being administered are safe. The government cannot allow use of unapproved drugs. Deworming helps boost a child’s health and concentration in school. We ask parents and teachers to ensure all targeted children are dewormed,” noted Koech.

The exercise targets at least 200,000 learners in about 800 schools in the county, with the departments assuring of sufficient availability of the relevant medicines.
