Kericho County leads with teenagers below 14 who are pregnant

Kericho County led with 236 adolescents between the ages of 10 and 14 who were reported to be pregnant on first visit to the Clinic.

Reports from the Kenya Health Information System (KHIS) placed the green county on the lead followed by Uasin Gishu with 181 cases, while third was Kakamega, which registered 74 pregnancies. Meru emerged fourth with 63 incidences.

In the KHIS category of those between the ages 15 to 19, the Nairobi led with a staggering 1064 adolescent pregnancies, followed by  Kakamega with 974, Bungoma was third with 792 while fourth was Garissa with 698.

Kericho County Women Rep Beatrice Kones has launched an initiative to ensure teenage pregnant mothers who drop out of school return to complete their studies.
