Kericho, Bomet students invited to apply for Finlays 2025 university scholarships for needy high achievers

Thirty students from Bomet and Kericho counties received past Swire Masters and Undergraduate scholarships during a ceremony at Exotic House.

The Browns (Finlays) Community Trust has officially invited eligible students from Kericho and Bomet counties to apply for its 2025 University Scholarship Programme, designed to support academically gifted yet financially disadvantaged learners.

The scholarship target candidates who wrote KCSE in 2024, attained a minimum grade of B+, and have received admission to a public university under the Government Sponsored Students Programme (GSSP).

To apply, students are required to submit certified copies of their KCSE 2024 results slip and their secondary school leaving certificate. They must also include a duly filled application form—note that incomplete forms will not be considered—and attach a copy of their admission letter to a public university. The Trust must receive the application by July 30 2025.

Applicants are also expected to provide background details on their financial challengesa and supporting information, such as letters from local administrators, endorsements from religious leaders, and recommendations from recognised charitable institutions, is encouraged.

The Trust also instructs honest and transparent, as any false information or attempts to canvass will result to automatic disqualification.

Special emphasis is placed on inclusion, with female students and Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWD) strongly encouraged to apply.

Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted by August 30, 2025. Those who do not receive a response by that date should consider their application unsuccessful.

The Trust Secretary underscored the purpose of the initiative, stating, “We are committed to creating a level playing field for brilliant students who are held back by financial constraints. This initiative is about empowering the next generation of changemakers.”
