In attempt to stay abreast with current and emerging security challenges through advanced intelligence hunting and gathering, the Kenyan government has set up a university to train spymasters.
As a constituent college of National Defence University (NDU) Kenya which was gifted a charter on 27th May 2021, National Intelligence Research University College (NIRUC) will identify, admit and train qualified students drawn from the intelligence sector.
“Established hereby is a university college to be known as National Intelligence and Research College which shall be a constituent college of National Defence University –Kenya ,’’ said Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha in a gazette notice dated 11th June 2021.
“The order accorded to the University as a constituent College of National Defence College -Kenya shall be transitional,” added the Education Minster.
He revealed that the University College may initiate the necessary administrative and legal measures to ensure that it becomes a fully-fledged university with the approval of the National Security Council (NSC).
