The Kenya Film Commission is spearheading a robust programme aimed at enhancing digital literacy among rural youth by promoting fundamental film-making skills.

The initiative involves partnering with Vocational Training Centers (VTCs) in rural areas to impart basic film-making skills, enabling youths to generate income through content creation.

In Siaya County, the Kenya Film Commission has collaborated with Ng’iya VTC, successfully training over 200 youths from the Alego/Usonga sub-county.

At the conclusion of the one-week training, Afrophilia Achieng’, the Center Manager of Ng’iya VTC, lauded the program, emphasizing its role in identifying and nurturing youth talents.

Scholastica Madowo, the South East Alego ward MCA, expressed excitement about the program and commended the partnership.

She highlighted that, within a week, the youth produced short films, equipping them with valuable skills for livelihoods.

Beneficiaries Anne Anyango and Isaiah Omondi expressed gratitude for the opportunity, acknowledging that the basic training in film production empowers them to create content for sustainable livelihoods.
