Kenya dominates FEASSSA boys’ football as St Joseph, Musingu, and Butere storm semifinals

Kenya’s St Joseph, Musingu, Butere reach FEASSSA boys’ semifinals, joined by Uganda’s Bukedea Comprehensive in Kakamega.

Kenya’s dominance in the boys’ football category at the Federation of East African Secondary Schools Sports Associations (FEASSSA) Games was on full display in Kakamega County as three of its representatives secured places in the semifinals.

Defending champions St Joseph Boys High School Kitale (JOBO), national runners-up Musingu High School, and newcomers Butere Boys High School all booked spots in the last four, setting the stage for an all-Kenyan showdown.

The semifinals promise fireworks, with a repeat of the national finals, where St. Joseph Boys will face off against their fierce rivals, Musingu High School.

JOBO finished second in Group B while Musingu topped Group A, ensuring the two sides would meet once again in what is expected to be a thrilling encounter.

In the other semifinal, Butere Boys will face off against Uganda’s Bukedea Comprehensive, the only non-Kenyan team left in the boys’ competition.

In their final group fixture, JOBO defeated Agai Mixed Secondary School 3–1 at Kakamega High, a repeat of the national semifinal where they had also triumphed 3–0 over the same opponents.

That result pushed JOBO to 13 points, level with Agai, but superior goal difference (17–5) saw them advance.

Meanwhile, Musingu Boys “Scorpions” continued their fine run with a convincing 3–1 victory over Rwanda’s C.G.F.K Kicukiro at Bukhungu Stadium.

Kicukiro shocked the home crowd by scoring in the opening minute through Erick Inhamye. However, the Scorpions roared back with goals from Marvin Ashihundu (22’), Kevin Marani (56’), and Harrison Amalemba (79’).

The win cemented their place at the top of Group A.

Butere Boys, making their debut in the FEASSSA Games, held defending champions Amus College of Uganda to a 1–1 draw in their group match, a result that was enough to carry them into the semifinals.

In Group B, Bukedea Comprehensive dominated proceedings, topping the table with 14 points after beating Tanzania’s Benjamin Mkapa Secondary School 2–0.

Girls’ category

The girls’ semifinals produced an all-Ugandan final.

Kenya’s Archbishop Njenga were eliminated after a 4–2 loss to Kawempe Muslim, while St Noah Girls narrowly beat Amus College Girls 1–0 in the other semifinal.

This means Kawempe Muslim will battle St Noah Girls for the FEASSSA girls’ football crown.
