Kenya emerged the overall winner of the Federation of East African School Sports Association (FEASSA) championship with a total of 63 medals at the recently concluded 22nd edition of the East Africa competition held in Kakamega from August 14, 2025 to August 25, 2025.
Kenya bagged 21 gold, 24 silver, and 18 bronze medals to top the rankings, with Uganda following closely in second place with 48 medals; 16 gold, 15 silver, and 17 bronze. Tanzania came third with 9 medals, followed by Rwanda which secured 5 and Burundi 2.

At the secondary school level, Kenya emerged the overall winner in sports with 42 medals comprising of 13 gold, 16 silver and 13 bronze while Uganda followed at position two with a total of 39 medals where 15 were gold, 13 silver and 11 bronze, Rwanda came third with 4 medals, Tanzania fourth with 3 medals, and Burundi fifth with 2 medals.

In the primary school category, Kenya still topped with a total of 13 points where 6 were gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze. Uganda followed with a total of 3 points having won 1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
In the Special Needs Education (SNE) learners Category, Kenya led with a total of 8 medals; 2 gold and 6 silver. Tanzania came second in the SNE category with 3 gold medals and a total of 3 points.
Education stakeholders in the country have, however, been urged to motivate the participating teams, with Uganda setting the pace by rewarding its excelling teams with cash prizes.
