The Kenya Junior School Teachers Association (KEJUSTA) has issued a stern notice to all Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) aspirants and incumbents, demanding their public support for the ongoing legal battle seeking the autonomy of Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers.
In a statement released on Monday, KEJUSTA set 23rd November 2025 as the deadline for all KUPPET aspirants to “publicly commit and contribute” to the ongoing court process aimed at securing recognition and independence for JSS educators.
The association termed the moment as “defining” in the struggle for equality and professional identity, warning that any KUPPET leader or aspirant who fails to support the cause will be considered an enemy of the JSS struggle.
“Any aspirant or incumbent who fails to stand with us through moral and financial support will be deemed an enemy of the JSS cause,” the statement reads in part.
KEJUSTA further warned that it will publish the names of all aspirants and sitting officials who fail to show solidarity after the deadline, accusing them of betraying the teachers’ movement.

“Traitors have no place in leadership,” the notice declared, urging all candidates to stand with JSS teachers or step aside.
The association has been at the forefront of advocating for the autonomy of JSS teachers, who are currently under the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) but seek distinct recognition and better representation.
The statement concluded with rallying hashtags #JSSAutonomyNow and #AlutaContinua, underscoring the association’s determination to continue the fight for independence and fair treatment of JSS teachers.
