The Kakamega North Sub County, Teachers Service Commission (TSC) director Remjus Otieno has warned male teachers against abusing student sexually in schools.
He said that teachers found being intimately involved with learners risk being interdicted by the commission and further action taken according to the law.
“The trend which has begun to grope up in most schools within the country should be stopped at all costs and stern actions taken against those teachers taking advantage of the young girls.” He said
While addressing teachers during their sub county annual general meeting (AGM) held at Malava Friends church, Otieno warned those teachers involved in the indecent behavior that their days were numbered and once apprehended will face the full force of the law.
The director reminded them to be wary of the TSC code of conduct and the basic education acts that will not hesitate to sack such teachers.

He at the same time advised teachers involved in alcohol and drug abuse to seek assistance before their career get ruined.
“Alcoholism has had a devastating impact on our teachers and the commission has continued to lose many from this vice. As we seek solutions to those adversely affected, we call on the teachers to exercise caution by drinking responsibly so as to safe guard not only their jobs but lives too” he noted.
He said those affected should avail themselves for rehabilitation where they will be guided on how to cope without alcohol, drug and substance abuse to avoid absenteeism from school that can lead to ultimate dismissal.
Otieno also applauded the efforts the teachers union was doing to represent teachers and encouraged more new teachers who are yet to join the union to do so for prosperity, adding that both the TSC and KNUT at the sub county were cordially working well.
He pointed out that the sub county learning outcomes was very low with only 11 schools out of the 115 primary schools attaining the 250 marks compared to other sub counties that were doing better.

The sub county director of education Rose Chisumi advised head teachers managing junior secondary schools to properly utilize the funds allocated to them.
“I urge all the school heads of comprehensive schools to practice financial management as the funds have both ears and eyes and if need be kindly consult to avoid audit queries later.” she warned.
The ministry is closely monitoring how the disbursed funds are utilized well in line with the ministry policy considering that (FGSE) funds are far more than (FPE) hence will attract a lot of auditing and scrutiny from the ministry.
She also expressed concerns over the grade selection where the sub county has only attained 54% with the highest one recording 84%.
Only 62 primary schools have completed the selection exercise out of the 115 schools in the sub-county and called on the head teachers to up their game in the selection exercise.
She called on the parents to ensure that their learners join cluster 1 and 2 schools as they were better.
