KCSE set to go on despite November 13 being declared a public holiday

Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu has directed that the ongoing Kenya Certificate of secondary Education (KCSE) examinations will continue on Monday  November 13, 2023, despite it being declared a public holiday.

In a statement issued today, Machogu stated that the papers which were scheduled for Monday, Mathematics Paper II and Kiswahili Paper III, will go on as scheduled.

“The Ministry of Education (MoE) wishes to inform the public that the holiday will not interrupt the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers scheduled for Monday, November13, 2023. Consequently, all members of the Multi-Agency Examinations Administration Group are requested to report to duty on time to ensure all the activities of the day are well executed as scheduled,” said Machogu in a statement.

The CS for Interior and National Administration declared November13, 2023 as a public holiday to allow members of the public to be engaged in tree planting countrywide.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Public Holidays Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration declares Monday, November 13 2023, a public holiday in which the public shall be engaged in tree growing countrywide,” the gazette notice read.

The exams started on October 23 with practical papers and will run till the end of November, while tomorrow the candidates will sit Chemistry Paper 2 and English Paper 3.
