The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations continue today with candidates across the country sitting for Religious Education and History papers. The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has scheduled a full day of testing that features both morning and afternoon sessions.
The morning session, which began at 8.00 am, is dedicated to Paper 2 of Christian Religious Education (CRE), Islamic Religious Education (IRE) and Hindu Religious Education (HRE). Each paper runs for two hours and thirty minutes, with large print versions provided for visually impaired candidates and Braille versions extending to three hours. These papers are designed to assess students’ understanding of faith, moral values, and the role of religion in contemporary society.
After the morning exams, candidates will take a short break before returning for the afternoon session. From 2.00 pm, students will sit for Paper 1 of History and Government, which lasts two and a half hours, while those taking the Braille version will have three hours. The paper evaluates learners’ grasp of Kenya’s political evolution, governance systems, and global historical developments.
The structured timetable ensures inclusivity by catering to candidates with special needs through large print and Braille formats. It also reflects KNEC’s commitment to maintaining fairness and accessibility during the national examinations.
