The 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) written examinations officially begin this morning, Monday, November 3, 2025, with candidates across the country sitting for the English and Chemistry papers.
According to the timetable released by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), the day began with English Paper 101/1 (Functional Skills) from 8am to 10am.
The examination also includes Large Print, Braille, and Hearing-Impaired versions to accommodate learners with special needs.
The regular and Large Print papers take two hours. In comparison, the Braille and Hearing-Impaired versions run for 2.5 hours, ensuring inclusivity in assessment for all candidates.

After a short mid-day break, the afternoon session features Chemistry Paper 233/1, scheduled from 2pm to 4pm Both regular and Large Print candidates will take the same amount of time.
KNEC has reminded centre managers to collect and return examination materials strictly within the scheduled times as part of the Council’s enhanced security measures. The council also wished all candidates success, emphasising discipline, honesty, and focus throughout the examination period.
The national exams, which will continue over the coming weeks, mark a critical stage in the academic journey of more than 900,000 candidates sitting for the KCSE this year.
