Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB) will partner with technical training institutions to offer a number of courses.

KASNEB CEO Nicholas Letting noted that some of the courses they seek to offer include accountancy, finance and business management.

The body also offers professional qualification examinations such as Certified Public Accountants (CPA), Certified Secretaries, Certified Investment and Financial Analysts (CIFA).

“Our mission is to empower professionals in various fields and we want to partner with technical training institutions to offer these courses,” he said.

Letting noted that more than 300,000 students who have gone through their courses and professional examinations are successful figures working in the corporate world.

He said that technical training institutions, which are government bodies and registered with the Technical Vocational and Education Training Authority, will by extension be used to offer the courses.

Speaking during the Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI) Annual Conference in Kwale County, Letting said they offer the courses at the certificate and diploma levels.

With the number of KCSE candidates who scored a D Plus and below on the rise, Letting urged the principals and other stakeholders to explore ways of enrolling them.

“We also need your help on the courses we need to introduce that suits the current market expectations,” he noted.

Over the last two years, the Government has made deliberate efforts to increase enrollment in the technical institutions as a way to equip the youth with life skills.

KASNEB, which turned 50 this year, is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Treasury.

The knowledge gained is also critical as it enables them to be able to communicate with their potential customers buyers as part of the entrepreneurship journey.

“The beauty about our examinations is that they can be done with other things,” he said, adding that they have partnered with the Higher Education Loans Board to offer financial assistance.

They have also partnered with Kenya Universities Colleges Central Placement Services to place the students in to various certificate and diploma courses. .

KASNEB will also look up to trainers with business background to teach the technical students eager to pursue the courses on offer.
