Kanga High to host National Biology Contest next month

Kanga High School in Migori County is set to host the National Annual Biology Contest on Sunday, May 21, 2023

This was revealed in a circular dated March 10, from the Head of Subject, Miss Caroline Omogi, through the institution’s chief principal and the County Director, Migori County’s Teachers Service Commission and Migori Director of Education.

The contest will involve Form Fours only where an integrated (PI, P2, & P3) testing will be done up to the second topic of Form Four syllabus.

“The exercise prepares and exposes our students to Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) model examinations,” part of the letter reads.

At the same time, the participating schools have been informed that they will be required to pay Ksh 2, 500 per set of 10 students.

“The contest starts at 8: 00 am and as marking will be progressing, students will be kept busy through organized discussions.

“Owing to the large number expected, please confirm your attendance by Friday May 19, 2023 for planning purposes,” another part read.

The circular also disclosed that top students will be given awards and merit certificates.

All participating schools have been reminded to carry packed lunch for their students.

In last year’s KCSE examinations, Kanga posted 49 As and it did exemplary in Biology subject by attaining a mean grade of 9.388, emerging third position in the subject countrywide where Kabarak and Kabianga tied at the top with a mean of 10.07, followed by Loreto Girls Limuru with a mean of 9.58.
