Kakamega’s Kongoni TVC celebrates 3rd cultural fete

Kongoni Technical and Vocational College in Kakamega County, recently celebrated its third Cultural Festival.

The event themed; Nurturing talent and national values in a digital age,’ attracted thousands of residents of Likuyani Sub- County who joined to celebrate and appreciate the cultural diversity of its trainees.

Speaking during the event, the institution’s Principal Judith Akaranga said they have come together to celebrate and appreciate the diversity of students and staff.

“We’ve trainees from all corners of the republic due to our proximity to cosmopolitan urban centres like Eldoret, Turbo, Moi’s Bridge, Matunda and Kitale, just to name but a few. We decided to give them a platform to showcase their rich cultural heritage and also nurture talents,” said the Principal.

She said the special event gives trainees an opportunity to present traditional dances, prepare traditional delicacies and dress in their traditional wear.

“The occasion gives trainees the chance to entertain guests by presenting a variety of skits like poems, live news cast, drama and also dancing competitions.” Akaranga said

She added that upcoming musicians and comedians are also given an opportunity to make presentations, just before the main event which is usually ‘Mr & Miss Kongoni’ ceremony.

“We usually take advantage of the huge crowd that turns up during these occasions to showcase our various training programmes and the training facilities available,” explained the Principal.

All guests who attended the event participated in a tree planting exercise before touring the various stands where trainees showcased and explained to them how the available training facilities at the institution are utilized in all the eight departments.
