Kakamega Primary’s top KCPE student scores 416 marks

Kakamega Primary School Headteacher Dickson Wanyangu addressing the press.

Pomp reigned supreme at Kakamega Primary School after the top KCPE candidate scored 416 marks.

Headteacher Dickson Wanyangu lauded the candidates for attaining a mean score of 342 marks, where out of 546 candidates, 19 scored 400 marks and above.

He attributed the success to commitment and teamwork between teachers, support staff and parents.

“Needy pupils who were among the top with 400 will receive Elimu scholarships to proceed to secondary schools,” he said.

Wanyangu noted that the school has made significant progress in regard to the transition to CBC and asked the government to fast-track the supply of learning and teaching materials.

“Our teachers are very competent and trained by TSC and three-quarters of the teaching staff are degree-holders capable of handling CBC,” the school head said.
