Kakamega Muslim Primary School revitalized

Kakamega Muslim Primary School has been revitalized to increase the number of learners and provide a conducive learning environment. The Head Teacher, Ibrahim Nassir, who was deployed to the school in March 2023, said the school had been in a dilapidated state and overgrown with bushes, with an enrollment of only 176 learners.

In an interview with Education Newspaper in his office, Mr. Nassir stated that the enrollment has now increased from 176 when he first arrived in 2023 to 242, ranging from Early Childhood Development (ECD) to Grade 9.

The construction of a new multi-story tuition block by Lurambi Constituency MP, Bishop Titus Khamala, has attracted more learners to the school.

Mr. Nassir expressed his gratitude to the school’s alumnus, Yusuf Ateka, who works in the office of President William Ruto, for supporting the school in various ways, including covering lunch expenses for the learners.

Additionally, the Tap to Eat lunch program has supported and motivated the learners, contributing to the increase in student population.

“This school excels in academics and co-curricular activities. We expect to produce well-rounded learners under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), including Grade 9 learners who will proceed to study Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) next year. We are confident they will perform well, and we expect positive results in both academics and co-curricular activities,” Nassir emphasized.

He urged the government to continue supporting the school and to release funds on time so that learners can continue their studies without facing any challenges.
