Kakamega first lady Prof. Janet Kassily Barasa has asked parents to promote good virtues in their children in order to get good results in their academics.
Reducing cases of Triple Threat, new HIV/AIDS infections, SGBV and Teen Pregnancies, she said, were key in ensuring learners focus on their education.
She was speaking during Education Day and AGM meeting meant to celebrate Bukolwe Primary and Junior School’s 2022 KCPE excellent performance.
In promoting menstrual hygiene, the First Lady presented sanitary pads to the schoolgirls to provide them with necessary comfort during menses.
These pads, she said were essential for their health, well-being and overall academic performance.
The schoolboys were issued with underwear to boost their self-esteem in the learning environment.
Mrs. Barasa lauded the school stakeholder, parents, teachers and staff for their teamwork that led to the schools’ historic exceptional performance in the National exams.
She further congratulated the school head teacher Ms Lilian Pessah for her exemplary leadership style that has managed to put the school on the map of excellence.
Present at the event were Marama South MCA Hon. Willis Opuka, Youth Advisor-Mr. Emmanuel Makokha, GBV County Coordinator Ms Rose Muhanda, Keppsha representatives, and County Administration among other education stakeholders.
