Kakamega County Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has called for swift and thorough investigations into the mysterious death of the Munyuki Secondary School Principal Simon Isiaho Shange, whose body was reportedly discovered in a river under unclear circumstances on Saturday.
Speaking in Kakamega, Savula urged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to launch an immediate probe to uncover the truth behind the killing.
He said that they will not tolerate acts of violence or impunity targeting educators and other public servants.
“We will not allow such heinous acts in Kakamega County. Teachers deserve respect and protection, not intimidation or harm,” Savula said.
He added: “We want to know exactly what happened — from the accident scene to where the principal’s body was later found in the river.”
The Deputy Governor demanded that the DCI deploy officers from Kakamega and Nairobi to handle the case, insisting that the investigation should not be left to officers based in Lumakanda.
He expressed concerns that local interference might compromise justice.
Savula further emphasized that anyone found to be involved — whether political leaders or any other individuals — must face the full force of the law.

“No one is above the law. Those responsible, regardless of their status or influence, must be arrested and prosecuted immediately,” he stated.
He assured the family of the deceased principal that the county government stands with them during this difficult time and will push for justice until the truth is revealed.
“This is not just about one family’s pain; it’s about protecting the dignity of the teaching profession and ensuring that justice prevails,” Savula added.
The death of the Munyuki Principal has sparked shock and anger among teachers, and residents, with many calling for accountability and transparency in the ongoing investigations.
Savula reiterated that the safety of educators remains a top priority for the county administration and vowed to work closely with security agencies to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
