Kajiado politician calls for increase of funds in education sector

Kajiado County politician, Tarayia ole Kores has called for more allocation of resources in education sector to address challenges facing the sector.

Kores while attending a fundraising event at Kajiado West Olasiti Primary School said education is the only way to empower the society,through education individuals gain knowledge and skills to improve their lives and contribute meaningfully to the society.

Kores who has expressed his interest for governor said his manifesto include supporting education in the county, ensuring every student access education, this is through increasing allocations for bursaries.

The school Principal Grace Bogecho said the school faces challenges such as water shortage, inadequate classrooms and doesn’t have proper school playground.

The school was started by the community as an ECDE and it now enrolls students to grade 8.the school has contributed to reduction of school drop outs ,students used to travel for many kilometers to access schools.

The Kajiado West community was fundraising for the school to get connected with electricity.

They also received support from visitors from the United States of America.

According research sanitation facilities and school infrastructure contribute to school dropout among pupils in public primary schools.

In  Kajiado North Sub-County the school dropout rate in county  as of 2017 was 6.8%, higher than the national average of 5.7%. Elsewhere, the enrollment rate in Kenya increased from 76.49 % in 2008 to 81.83 % in 2019, growing at an average annual rate of 1.1%.
