Following the recent announcement of the closure of schools that didn’t meet safety standards, Kaiti Constituency MP Joshua Kimilu has assured parents that Ndolo Primary School will not be closed as they are addressing the highlighted gaps.
Speaking at the school, the legislator noted that the closure of any school causes disruption for both the learners and parents, and he is working hard to address the issues. Ndolo was one of the 348 schools highlighted by the Ministry of Education as facing closure. Other schools in Makueni County that are affected include Ititu, Mia Atatu, Ngaamba, Nthaani Kalawani, Kwa Ngumu, Utithi, Kyumani, Mukatini, and Uthini.
“I will not accept it being closed. I have brought the contractor to ensure that it meets all the requirements. I urge parents not to panic,” Kimilu stated.
This comes after the government issued fresh conditions for the reopening of 348 boarding schools that were shut down for failing to meet safety standards. The conditions must be met before January.
