Kaimosi Friends University (KAFU) has urged young student girls to pursue higher education and embrace leadership roles in their respective communities.
Speaking to hundreds of students during a high-impact career expo at St. Michael’s A.C.K Buduma Girls Secondary School, in Busia County the university reinstated its commitment to educational access, equity, and youth empowerment.
The event, held in Busia County, was part of KAFU’s strategic outreach programme aimed at encouraging students, particularly young women to pursue higher education, enlighten them on career choises and embrace leadership roles in their communities.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Nyambane Fredrick underscored the transformative potential of education.
“Education is the most transformative weapon,” he said. “It remains the only potent equalizer capable of bridging inequality and shaping futures,” he said

The address received a warm reception, with students and teachers praising its timely relevance. Dr. Fredrick urged the girls to embrace ambition, set clear goals, and pursue excellence despite challenges.
Throughout the day, KAFU representatives offered detailed insights into the university’s academic programmes, campus experience, and support systems. Students also participated in sessions on SMART goal setting—a practical framework to help them plan Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound objectives.
“These young women are not just learners; they are the next generation of innovators and decision-makers,” a KAFU official said. “Our role is to help them see what’s possible.”

The event concluded with expressions of gratitude from both institutions. Teachers commended KAFU for bridging the gap between secondary and tertiary education, while students described the engagement as eye-opening and empowering.
KAFU reiterated its dedication to strengthening partnerships with schools across the region, fostering a culture of academic excellence and future-ready leadership.
