Kaimosi Varsity celebrates as Jane Imbunya lands top government job

Excitement and pride swept through Kaimosi Friends University (KAFU) following President William Ruto’s appointment of Dr Jane Kere Imbunya as the Principal Secretary for the State Department of Public Service and Human Capital Development.

Dr Imbunya, a respected scholar and administrator, has played a pivotal role at KAFU, where she served as a senior lecturer, curriculum development expert, and Dean of the School of Education and Social Sciences.

Her appointment marks a significant milestone for her career and the university, which has emerged as a key player in Kenya’s higher education sector.

The announcement sparked celebrations within the university community, with faculty, students, and staff hailing her elevation as a testament to academic excellence and leadership.

Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Peter Mwita lauded Dr Imbunya’s contribution to quality assurance and institutional growth, stating that her leadership had left an indelible mark on KAFU.

“Dr Imbunya has been a driving force behind our academic programmes, ensuring excellence and innovation in curriculum development.

Her appointment is a source of pride for our institution, and we have no doubt that she will bring the same level of commitment and professionalism to public service,” said Prof Mwita.

He further expressed gratitude to President Ruto for recognizing the rising influence of Kaimosi Friends University, which has grown to accommodate 6,000 students and is expected to increase enrollment in the upcoming intake.

As she assumes her new role, Dr Imbunya is expected to spearhead public service and human capital development reforms, leveraging her vast experience in policy formulation, governance, and education management.

Her appointment underscores the critical link between academia and national leadership, reinforcing the role of universities in shaping Kenya’s future.
