Parents in the North Rift region have been encouraged to support the girl child in order to enable them to attain their goals in life.
Lady Justice Roselyn Korir observed that lack of support has seen many girls give up their vision, a trend she says should be avoided.
According to Korir, the girl child has the ability to compete with the boys, if only they are provided equal opportunities and support.
“Girls have the ability to compete with boys. I want to ask parents to fully support their daughters so as to enable them to attain their goals in life,” she noted.

Speaking in Nandi Hills, she challenged women to rise above cultural limits and focus on transforming the society, which grapples with numerous hardships.
She pointed out that women have proved to be good leaders and should not accept to be held down whatsoever.
“Women have proved to be good leaders in the positions they have held and should not accept to be held down. I also encourage women to rise above cultural limits and focus on transforming society,” Justice Korir added.
Justice Korir further raised the red flag over the rising cases of violation of girls’ rights, adding that she was already partnering with various stakeholders to ensure the rights are fully observed.
County Woman representative Cynthia Muge echoed the sentiments, promising to maintain her support for girls and women in the county.
“Education is a basic right which both boys and girls should get. As the county MP, I will continue supporting girls and women in this county to achieve their goals,” observed Muge.
