JSS teachers castigated for abandoning the children under their care

Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama has castigated Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers for deserting duty and abandoning the children under them.

Speaking in his Webuye Constituency, the MP said the strike has affected learners and the teachers should seek alternative ways of resolving issues instead of boycotting work.

“The JSS teachers should call of their strike since it is affecting learners,” he said, urging teachers to go back to class as the government looks into ways of ending the stalemate.

He added that the JSS teachers were employed recently and should soften their hard line stance against the government.

In a quick rejoinder at the same event, Bungoma East KNUT Vice Chairman Jacob Temba told Wanyama to stop infringing on the teachers’ rights.

The unionist further said the government should employ the JSS permanently just like other teachers serving under Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
