St. Mary’s Mixed Day Secondary School in Moyale Constituency, Marsabit County, officially opened of a modern administration block, a major step towards improving learning environment in the school.
The facility, funded through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), symbolizes the government’s ongoing commitment to nurturing future innovators and problem-solvers by providing them with conducive spaces to learn and grow.
The launch was presided over by Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku, the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service. His presence underscored the national significance of community-driven development projects that not only enhance education but also reinforce resilience in marginalised regions.
The completed administration block is a product of collaborative efforts steered by Moyale MP Prof. Jaldesa Guyo, whose leadership in mobilizing resources through NG-CDF has seen various educational infrastructure projects take shape in the area. The facility is expected to streamline school operations, enhance teacher working spaces and improve overall service delivery to learners.

The opening ceremony coincided with an ongoing Special Programmes mission aimed at delivering essential relief support to vulnerable families affected by prolonged drought and economic hardships. While the relief efforts addressed urgent humanitarian needs, the unveiling of the administration block represented a strategic investment in long term solutions through education.
St. Mary’s Mixed Day Secondary School, a vital institution serving students from Moyale town and surrounding rural villages, has for years struggled with inadequate facilities, hindering effective administration and learning. The new block now offers a fully furnished head teacher’s office, staffroom, boardroom and records centre, marking a transformative milestone for the school.
Ruku emphasized that creating quality learning environments is a non-negotiable priority for the government, especially in frontier counties where education remains a critical pillar for socio-economic transformation.

He noted that infrastructural investments like these are essential in bridging educational disparities and empowering local communities to develop home-grown solutions to the challenges facing the nation.
