Joy as Sigalagala National Poly sends off 2,760 graduands ready to power national development

Sigalagala National Polytechnic celebrated 2,760 graduands at its 6th graduation ceremony, where PS Stephen Isaboke encouraged them to transform their skills into enterprise, innovation, and national development.

A total of 2,760 graduands at Sigalagala National Polytechnic were commended at the 6th graduation ceremony, taking their first victorious stride toward national relevance.

The event was presided over by the chief guest, PS for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Stephen Isaboke, who extended sincere appreciation to the parents, guardians and families who walked the journey with the graduates  “Your encouragement, sacrifices and belief in the power of education have been instrumental to their success,” affirmed the PS.

Isaboke added that the country is committed to managing technical training to achieve good results. “We believe that providing skills will not really secure jobs but will create enterprises, industries, and empower economic growth,” emphasised the PS.

The National Polytechnic marks a significant milestone as it celebrates the 6th graduation ceremony. In addition, the institution has distinguished itself as an early and committed adopter of the Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) model, which includes the modified curriculum, recognition of prior learning, and training.

Sigalagala National Polytechnic Chief Principal Evans Bosire said that over the past five years, enrollment has surged from 7,153 trainees in September 2020 to 18,797 in 2025, a powerful testament to public confidence and the fact that the Country is committed to the management of technical training to achieve good results, owing to demand for competency-based skilling.

The increase in numbers reflects a stronger youth workforce for both local economies and the national industry.

In fulfilment of the government’s directive on Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET), over 49 CBET modular curricula have been developed and approved by TVETA and are now fully implemented across all campuses of the institution.

“This is not the close of your story; it is the unveiling of your mission. A mission backed by skill, driven by ambition and endorsed by a nation,” said the Principal.

During the celebrations, he announced that two of their most distinguished skills champions will carry Kenya’s flag to the 2026 World Skills Competition in Ethiopia.
