There was joy at Kakamega’s Musingu Boys High School after the institution posted improved performance in the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations.

A total of 195 candidates out of 322 who sat the examinations scored C+ and above, which will enable them join university.

The school’s Chief Principal Bernard Lukuya said the number translated to 60.74 per cent of the candidates.

He stated that although none of the candidates scored an A plain, five managed to get A minus, 24 B+ and 34 B plain.

He said 53 scored B- while 79 had C+.

“We are satisfied with these results because we have had several challenges in the past including dormitory fires that razed students’ items, besides negative effects of Covid19,” he added.

He said their mean score had risen from 6.5650 in 2019 to 7.0872 in 2020.

Lukuya said they had taken measures to bounce back to the national arena by ensuring high discipline among the students.

Musingu was one of the top schools countrywide in the previous years, both in academics and co-curricular activities, especially football and hockey.

Some of the prominent personalities in the country including former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, President of the Law Society of Kenya Nelson, Lawyer Georgiadis Majimbo and businessmen such as Fred Ikana are products of the school.

Ikolomani MP Benard Shinali congratulated the school for the improved performance and urged them to post even better results in the 2021 examinations.

“The school is rising from the ashes and I am happy that the roar is coming back. We shall support them fully in this journey,” he added.
