Journalists in Kisumu have demonstrated against police brutality meted out to their colleagues in other parts of the country.

The scribes who carried placards marched along the Oginga Odinga highway and later presented a petition to the Kisumu Central Sub-County Police Commander Peter Mulai.

Mulai assured the scribes that he would always support them when the need arose.

He said the relationship between the media and the police has been very cordial.

Kisumu Journalists Network Forum (KJNF) Chairperson Dorine Magak said access to information is also enshrined in the constitution of 2010.

Magak called on the government to respect media freedoms and also urged media houses to pay journalists.

She said the government has withheld millions of shillings belonging to many media houses in terms of advertisement fees.
