Students from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) staged a street protest today morning demanding justice for their fellow student, Denzel Omondi.

Omondi, a third year student aged 23 lifeless body was discovered in a quarry located in the Mashinani area a few days after he disappeared during the recent protests.

He was last seen demonstrating outside the National Assembly on June 25, 2024, and at JKUAT Campus the next day but his whereabouts was unknown as of June 27.

His body was found on July 6, 2024, drifting in an abandoned quarry in Juja. A subsequent autopsy determined that he had died from drowning.

Denzel’s family and human rights advocates remain skeptical of the autopsy results, pointing to bruises found on the back of his head and legs.

James Otieno, Denzel’s father, mentioned that he had spoken to his son shortly before he vanished, noting that Denzel was in a positive mood during their conversation.
