JKUAT scoops numerous awards at Central ASK Show

Jomo Kenyatta University of Kenya (JKUAT) was ranked the best university in the recently concluded Central Kenya National Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Show after it clinched position won in six trade classes.

Other than the coveted Best University Trophy, JKUAT also received recognition for the best university stand, stand that best interprets the show’s themes of education and research, best agricultural based statutory stand, best exhibiting agricultural and earth moving equipment , most striking display demonstration and best agro-processing stand.

The theme of the show, held at the Kabiru-in grounds in Nyeri, was promoting innovation and technology in agriculture and trade.

The university’s Vice Chancellor Prof Victoria Ngumi said the institution’s good performance shows its prowess in technological innovation, value addition initiatives and agro- processing.

“We’re excited to be ranked the best institution. We do a lot of research and innovations which nourish our work pertaining the agriculture sector .From our innovations, we wish to better the lives of citizens by improving their living standards,” Prof Ngumi said.

She urged institutions of higher learning to take the front seat in driving the research agenda of the country.

JKUAT’s Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Research, Production and Extension Prof Jackson Kwanza lauded the university for their good performance.

Nyandarua county Governor Dr Moses Badilisha concurred that JKUAT has helped to solve some of the challenges the country is facing in agricultural sector.

He promised to visit JKUAT to address some of the challenges the country is facing and added that some of the innovations by JKUAT, will help farmers countrywide.

From September 26 to October 2, 2022, JKUAT researchers and innovators and other exhibitors will be competing for the top notch at Nairobi International Trade Fair.
