Isuzu East Africa makes donations of tanks to schools

Isuzu East Africa makes donations of water tanks to Makueni County schools. The schools from the county have benefited from water tanks donated by the motor vehicle dealer.

The tanks with a capacity of 10,000 liters each were donated by the dealer to four schools as part of their corporate social responsibility to support schools access clean drinking water.

The schools that received the donations are Unoa primary, Uvuu Secondary, Mukuyuni Primary and Kivani Primary School.

Speaking at Unoa Primary School, when he handed over the donation to Makueni County Governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior, the director, Isuzu East Africa in charge of manufacturing, operations and facilities division Engineer Daniel Kilenge said the donation was agreed on in an earlier courtesy call to Makueni governor by their director Rita Kavashe and are happy to have fulfilled their promise.

The engineer said they have partnered with other counties as well and will continue to doing so.

The dealer believes by changing the community will contribute highly on their business sustainability.

“Our initiative falls under environment, roads and education. I believe this initiative is a starting point to many more initiatives that will help us grow together as partners and friends of this county,” said Kilenge.

He noted that they wanted to ensure that learners get clean drinking water, adding that the beneficiary schools will start by harvesting water during the rainy season and have good storage of available water as time goes by.

Speaking on the same, Governor Mutula Kilonzo said Makueni County is the largest customer of Isuzu in the country and it is with no doubt that the donation was out of the dealers hearts.

He called upon schools around to check the drinking water of their learners by ensuring it is safe for consumption.

“Well, we thank God we have not had cholera cases but I urge all of us to ensure children drink safe and clean water as well as observe hygiene,”Mutula.

He promised to sink a borehole at Unoa Primary School so that the children can benefit more especially in a school with physically challenged wing.

He also promised to upgrade Unoa playground for the betterment of the learners.

The school head teacher, Winfred Sila, appreciated Isuzu East Africa for the donation, saying it was a big boost to them and favor as well since they are getting two tanks as opposed to the three other schools getting one each.

She thanked the governor for putting up school toilets, improving buildings and furnishing girls dormitory. She however requested for a boys dormitory as well.

“We also need school a perimeter wall, food programme and a school bus,” she added.

The school situated in town center has a population of 1,136 with 107 physically challenged and 150 ECDE pupils. Despite the swelling population, the school’s performance, academically, is progressing well.
