The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has called on the government to involve all stakeholders in the task force which will be commissioned to review the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) education system.
KNUT Secretary General (SG) Collins Oyuu said that the union was a major stakeholder in the entire process owing to the fact that it represented teachers, who are at the core of implementation of the system.
Oyuu, who was speaking in Kisumu during the closing ceremony of the 94th edition of the Kenya Music Festival said that the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) and the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) should also be included in the task force.
The SG ruled out scrapping off of the system altogether and termed those calling for the same as misguided.
He said that the only option was to review the gaps therein and find solutions of its shortcomings as well as improving its favourable aspects.
Oyuu further castigated politicians for pouring scorn on teachers regarding CBC.
“It is wrong for an elected leader to claim that teachers are eliminating chickens in entire villages via CBC,” he said.
