Internet service providers have made significant strides in reaching out to customers at the village level to ensure that Kenyans have access to internet services during the festive season.

Vilcom Networks Limited, a Kenyan-based Internet Service Provider (ISP), through its Vilcom Mashinani Initiative, has connected underserved communities to reliable internet services, promoting digital inclusion.

“In the past four years, Vilcom has been addressing the digital divide in the country, particularly in marginalized areas,” said Agnes Limo, the Chief Executive Officer, during the company’s end-of-year party.

While celebrating their milestone, key stakeholders, including employees and various partners, gathered to commemorate the achievements and discuss future plans. The event highlighted the positive impact of the initiative and reaffirmed Vilcom Networks’ commitment to bridging the digital gap across Kenya.

The company has bridged the digital divide by expanding network coverage and infrastructure in rural areas.

“This initiative empowers rural communities with access to essential services such as telemedicine, agricultural information, government services, and online learning platforms. This, in turn, contributes to socio-economic development and enhances the overall quality of life,” Limo said.

In addition to their efforts to bridge the digital divide, Vilcom Networks Limited has also enhanced the user experience by increasing the speed and bandwidth of all their packages.

She added that, in today’s digital age, reliable and high-speed internet is essential for both residential and business customers.

However, she noted that this upgrade is aimed at providing faster and more reliable internet service, ensuring that customers, particularly those in underserved areas, can enjoy a seamless online experience for work, education, and entertainment.

“This move reflects the company’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of its users and improving overall service quality. This applies to both home and business customers,” she said.
