The first cohort of 30 artisans trained in upcycling waste into valuable products have graduated at Kyemutheke Vocational Training Center on Friday in Machakos County.
The graduates comprising of 24 women and 6 men are now fully equipped with the skills to transform what was once waste into products of value and pride.
The group being the first be trained under the Kyemutheke Upcycling Project, run in partnership between the institution and Bamburi Cement Company.

Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi who presided over the ceremony, congratulated the graduands for their resilience and determination in making it through to the graduation list.
This initiative aims to empower members of the Kyemutheke community by providing them with training and practical skills to upcycle used Bamburi Cement bags into beautiful and durable bags,” said Mwangangi.
