By Enock Okong’o

One of Borabu Parliamentary runners-up in the just completed general elections, Victor Swanya Ogeto has pledged to continue to support bright students from the area to continue with higher education despite not getting the seat.

“I started this education foundation two decades ago to help out children get quality education because I know its immeasurable value,” he said.

He said that his Victor Swanya Foundation was not put in place because of politics but it has been there to help the community even without any political attachment.

Ogeto was addressing the public thanking them for voting for him although the votes were not enough to secure him a place in parliament.

The aspirant said that in this year alone, his foundation had disbursed Ksh.50 Million that went to 2,000 students continuing with University education and 78 more who will join later this year.

Ogeto who is an accomplished lawyer and businessman revealed his foundation had spent more than 300 million since they started supporting the less privileged and orphaned children from Nyamira County.

Saying that success in education calls for collective responsibility he asked private developers to partner with individuals and the government in the development of the education sector.

The lawyer asked those who gained sponsorship from his foundation to take courses with ready market to enable them secure employment after completion.

“Most of these students come from very poor homes that is why I ask them to embrace attractive careers like Engineering, Medicine or ICT because they are of high demand in the job market,” he said.
