Teachers from Hulugho Primary School in Garissa County have camped at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) North Eastern Regional Director’s office, demanding immediate transfers following a deadly attack by suspected Al-Shabaab militants.
The protest follows the brutal killing of Teacher Stephen Musili while on duty at the school.
His death has sent shockwaves across the education sector and renewed concerns over the safety of teachers posted in high-risk areas.
Hulugho, near the Kenya-Somalia border, has long faced insecurity.
Teachers in the area have repeatedly raised alarms over frequent attacks, threats and poor security, but earlier pleas for relocation went largely unheeded.

Following Musili’s killing, the educators say they are living in fear and cannot continue teaching under current conditions.
They demand immediate transfers to safer areas, emphasizing that no job should cost a life.
Several teachers appeared visibly distressed at the TSC offices, describing the incident as a painful reminder of daily risks.
The TSC has said transfers follow policy but pressure is mounting for special measures for teachers in insecure regions.
Learning at Hulugho Primary School remains disrupted as uncertainty grips both teachers and pupils.
