KUPPET Homa Bay branch officials retained positions after an election was held in the branch last Sunday, a month after the exercise had been called off.

The elections which had been scheduled for 24th January were called off by national union officials together with the returning officer in charge after a section of candidates raised complaints against their competitors in the race.

The candidates had complained claiming the exercise lacked a level playing field.

The executive secretary, assistant executive secretary, chairman, vice chairman, treasurer, organising secretary and secretary gender position incumbents retained their seats whereas assistant treasurer, secretary secondary, secretary tertiary officials lost their positions to newly elected officials in a tight race.

Executive Secretary Stephen Yogo, who got re-elected to serve the teachers in the union for the next five years, appreciated teachers for exercising their democratic right through casting their votes despite all the challenges that occurred in the previously scheduled elections.
