HOIs equipped during the KPEEL training in Siaya

Head of Institutions, HoIs from Rarieda, Siaya County have been fully equipped during the recently held Kenya Primary Education Equity in Learning KPEEL program.

The Program officially opened by Siaya County Director of Education Rev. Dr. Francis shikanda, is a World Bank funded initiative aimed at improving the quality of education in Kenya’s primary schools.

The program’s primary goal is to reduce disparities in learning outcomes, improve retention rates of girls in upper primary education, and strengthen systems for equitable education outcomes.

It focuses on key areas such as; Infrastructure development for instance construction of grade 9 classrooms, teachers upgrading, pedagogical skills and subject matter expertise and School feeding programs.

Implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Teachers Service Commission, the programme aims to promote sustainable development.

During the training, the MoE County director congratulated HoIs for having used the first traunch of the funds well and have now qualified for the second traunch.

He encouraged them to utilize the funds according to the percentages of the priority areas.

Siaya County TSC director Madam Beatrice Ogwe also advised the HoIs to work on t/pad and TPC, utilize kpeel funds appropriately.

She also advised them to apply for leaves when necessary and update these leaves well online.

The teachers were also urged to update TIMIS and make sure they use the KPEEL money wisely.

To enhance accountability, teachers were advised to display the kpeel funds on the office wall, all schools to have approved sip documents.

She added that monitoring of kpeel funds will be intensified more than before.

“Kpeel money has come with its own budget. Utilize it the way it is required. Work well in your schools to market the public schools.

She added that teachers in public schools are the custodians of the relevant knowledge of CBE in retooling.

Implementation of Kpeel program and its documentation are vital because the program requires physical items with their documentary evidence.
