Kenya National Union of Teachers Eldoret West branch chairman Kipchumba Arusei has applauded the proposal by the Ministry of Education to give students in high school medical cover.
Speaking to Education News recently, Arusei said this is in order and should be supported by all people of good will.
“I want to thank the Ministry of Education for this noble cause since students also get sick and will require quality and not quantity health care,” said Arusei.
He, however, called upon the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to employ more teachers since the current number is a drop in the ocean.
“In Kenya, we have been having teachers shortage since time in memorial but we have never experienced the shortage we are facing now of over 100,000 teachers,” noted Arusei.
